Mixed Incontinence

Unfortunately, many patients do not have just one type of incontinence. In fact, most patients have some element of the three major types of incontinence. Typically, you will see patients with both symptoms of stress and urge incontinence. It is then important to determine what is bothering them the most and causing the most problem. It would be inappropriate to do surgery on a patient for stress incontinence if 90% of her episodes of incontinence were due to urgency. Very careful evaluation and testing is needed in these patients.
