Breast Problems

Breast Cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. One in nine women will develop breast cancer at some time during their life. There is, therefore, no time that is to soon to learn about breast problems that can affect a women as she matures.

At Greater Carolinas Women's Center we perform annual breast exams on all our patients. We also

  • provide instruction on "Self Breast Exams"
  • encourage all our patients to have recommended screening mammograms
  • provide initial evaluation and treatment of breast lumps and other breast conditions
  • evaluate all our patients for benign and cancerous changes and provide individual screening recommendations based on family history and other risk factors.

Remember--breast cancer can not be prevented, however early diagnosis and treatment can cure the vast majority of cases. We believe the best chance at early detection involves a three step approach--

  1. Annual breast exams by a physician or trained provider
  2. Monthly self breast exams
  3. Screening mammograms
